uncertainty - a knot of growing pain
that gnaws incessantly within your chest,
a fox beneath your cloak; it would be best
to let it loose, alleviate the strain;
dishonor would be worth remaining sane -
you must disclose this torment, or the rest
of this existence, you’ll remain oppressed
by anguish’s exhausting inner drain.

it’s likelier you’ll keep it to yourself,
endure the rending teeth and slashing claws
and end by having chosen neither choice;

you’re paralyzed, although in perfect health -
like one who doesn’t dare to move her jaw
and dies before the world can hear her voice.
